Family Literacy Day | Jan 26 & 27

Family Literacy Day is a national initiative created by ABC Life Literacy Canada to raise awareness of the importance of reading and enjoying literacy-related activities as a family.

Your child’s learning starts at birth. As your child’s first and best teacher, reading with your newborn, infant, toddler, or preschooler is one of the most important activities you can do together. Reading books aloud to your child, sharing stories, even singing together, creates a strong foundation for developing early literacy skills and helps get them ready to read.

Three simple things you can do now to grow an eager reader: read everything you can (street signs, cereal boxes, recipes, etc.), share stories together, and attend the library's storytime sessions.

Celebrate Family Literacy Day with games, activities & more! Please join us at Central on Sat January 26 and at the branches on Sun January 27.
